5th Dimension FRESCOTTO Natural Fibre Underlay

£ 49.95 Product code: 1FVDMN_410

Rolls or Sq Metres

5th Dimension is a new generation of carpet underlay. First there was felt underlay back in the early days of fitted carpets, then crumb rubber development in the 1950s was followed by production of sponge and waffle underlays.

For the last twenty or so years foam underlays have proven to be the most popular, however this new generation of carpet underlay claims a position as the most environmentally friendly of them all.

5th Dimension is a natural product with no harmful chemicals, vapours or volatile organic compounds (VOC's). Made from sustainably sourced wood fibres it is fully biodegradable, anti-allergenic and filters out over 95% of the dust that flows through it for a fresher environment.

5th Dimension FRESCOTTO is 8mm thick with a cubic density of 135kg sq. mtr which is far greater than many foam underlays. It has a tog value of 1.30 meaning that it can also be used over underfloor heating installations. An impressive sound impact reduction value of 31db makes this underlay a great all-rounder for use throughout the home.

Delivery to most Mainland UK postcodes is just £9.95 which covers your whole order, regardless of how many items purchased. The exception to this is on deliveries to IOW postcodes PO30 upwards and Scottish postcodes AB (all) IV (all) KW (all) PA20 upwards PH15 upwards where the delivery cost is £24.95 regardless of order size.

Underlay and accessory orders placed before 3.00 PM Monday - Friday are usually despatched the same day and delivered within 3 - 4 working days, or as early as next working day for a small extra charge - see our delivery service upgrade options, which are available for underlay and accessory orders ONLY. We do, however, recommend allowing a little extra time to allow for unforeseen circumstances. Outlying and remote areas may take a little longer.

Most of our carpet and flooring ranges are despatched in just a few days. After being cut and wrapped at the factory, the goods arrive at our distribution depot from where you are contacted to arrange a convenient delivery date. Most areas of the UK receive deliveries at least twice a week, with the exception of remote and outlying areas.

For urgent carpet and floorcovering orders it is advised that you contact us, either by e-mail or telephone to check stock availability, as just occasionally there may be a slight delay in despatch if there is particularly high demand for a specific product and colour.

Our delivery area is mainland England, Wales and Scotland. For offshore deliveries, please contact us for a delivery quote.

Please see our full Terms and Conditions for more information.

How much carpet do I need to order?

Always allow at least 10 cm above the actual room size, to allow for trimming and to ensure a snug fit.

How accurate are carpet sizes supplied?

Lengths are supplied to at least a minimum of the size ordered, but can occasionally be a little longer if there is a suitable stock piece to satisfy your requirements. Widths, however, are subject to a manufacturing tolerance of +/- 1.25% and this should be taken into account when calculating what size to order.

How much underlay do I need?

Sometimes less than the amount of carpet needed. This is because when ordering a carpet you would normally choose the appropriate width available and there may be a little waste. But underlay is meant to be cut and joined, you can therefore order an amount closer to the actual size of the area.

How do I join underlay?

It is always best to tape joins to avoid movement, both during and after installation. A cloth single sided tape is best, but a budget priced tape will often suffice.

Which way up do I lay the underlay?

If there is a printed side, then this is usually laid uppermost. If there is no printing, but one side is relatively plain and the other side coloured, it is usually the plain side uppermost. If the underlay has a paper backing, this is laid uppermost.
